No MTM today, but get some cheese!

It has been the week from bizarro-land. Everything I have tried to accomplish has gone down the tubes, been three times as difficult as it should have been, or just not worked!

I am down to wearing my embarrassing clothes, so I have to get to the laundry machines before anyone tomorrow morning. That is the worst thing about living in an apartment, well, one of them anyway. Timing your laundry when no one else is doing theirs. One of the other things is the people that have no allergies insisting on using "Gain" laundry crap. I have been having headaches all bloody week, for some reason the smell wafts down the hallway and right into my suite. I currently have a fan running, pointed at the hallway door to keep the smell out as much as possible. I am going to start a NO GAIN campaign, well, maybe just get the Asthma Society on their backs.

I purchased some swimsuit fabric the other day, I found a very nice pattern and thought it would be cheaper to make my own. In fact the fabric was on sale for 50% off, so I bought 4 metres and think I will be able to make a pair of bike shorts and maybe a tank top too - all for just over $20.00. If anyone has any tips on sewing lycra or spandex, let me know okay? The community pool near here is a salt water pool and they have aquasize classes in the evenings, so I thought I would give them a try.

I am also rebuilding a leather coat (I hope), it got a corner tear in the back a couple of years ago, so I figure if I mess it up, well, I couldn't wear it anyway. I just hope this machine is strong enough to sew leather. I am going to put darts in to take it from a box coat to a more tailored look, which should allow me to hide the tear and have a wearable coat again. Cross your fingers for me.

Of course, I have to clean up my patio and get it ready for winter, clean up my pots and put everything away neatly. I might get some spring bulbs to put in, but I am not sure about that yet. I still can't kneel, so maybe next year.

Of course, I also have to go to the Dr and express my displeasure at his behaviour. Then find out how long I can expect my knee to feel like this. I have things that need to be done and having a bum knee all winter is not going to be any fun.

Well, I have run out of cheese, so I had better quit now.

Have a good day all!

Reb - after a week like that, it can only get better. This next week is going to be stunner for you - I can tell.

Sorry about the continuing troubles with your knee. I have a dicky knee - bends in all sorts of improbable directions according to my doctor! Hope you get it sorted soon.

Oh definitely bring out the heavy artillery in the No Gain Campaign.
All this sewing business is beyond me. I'm no help so I'll offer a good luck.
By all means let your dr. know he's screwed up in his bedside manner.

Can you at least lobby your apartment management to start a NO GAIN CAMPAIGN (gee, that has a lilt to it...) in your building?

I use Gain because it is relatively inexpensive and works really well on greasy, muddy clothes; but of course, I don't have the same issues with asthma.

I should check next time to see if there is an 'unscented' Gain....

Oops - forgot to address the sewing issue. Don't forget to use a really heavy needle when sewing the leather - your machine should be able to handle it.

The lycra? Check out one of the sewing websites (Singer or some such) for tips on sewing stretch fabrics.

Poor Reb!

You are having a tough time of it!

And I can't help with anything except to send great thoughts for much improvement your way.

I hate the smell of Gain too. Maybe it's because I'm allergic to it, as well as any scented fabric softener. I also get skin allergies with certain soaps. I'm a mess, what can I say? Hopefully this week will be better for you!

I feel for you about the washer/dryer thing - I sooo wish I had my own! What is UP with that Gain stuff? Please make it go AWAY!

I had no idea about gain. Maybe that is why I was sneezing non stop for the month I used it. Hmm..

It sounds like you have a lot of sewing skills. I hope everything come out perfectly.

If you didn't have that bum knee I would suggest you use it to kick your dr's butt.

Dawn, thanks I hope you're right!

Gary, I know, we are expecting snow by Friday!

Leah, it's horrible isn't it? I found a "tell your story" Gain site, so I did! Don't think they'll post it though.

Sis, I'm just gonna put up signs whether the boss likes it or not! I do believe I have a "leather" needle, I just hope I don't screw up! I actually got the pattern from Burda on-line for free.

Kcinnova, it just sounds like energy. It will take me awhile to do it all.

Terry the thoughts are much appreciated.

Tink, I hear you on the allergies! Thanks, I hope so too.

Missicat, I miss having my own so much!

Knight, that was probably the reason! I wouldn't say a lot, but if I take my time, I can usually make something wearable.

Thanks for the well wishes over on Jay's blog!

I, too am getting ready for Fall. I hate pulling everything up and going all pansy and mum for the winter...but what's a girl to do?

Here's hoping the knee feels better soon!

Do a lot of young single people live in your complex? If so, do your laundry on Friday or Saturday night while they're all out on dates. Worked like a charm for me!

RLL, Pansies & Mums sound much better than snow!

Bunnygirl, we are quite the mixed bag here, so it is just a crap shoot.
