Garden is in!

This is what it looked like on May 26th. As you can see, I have pointed out where creepy stalker guy lives. He has been behaving himself somewhat, but I still need to put up an overhead screen for my own comfort.

I dug a bed last year and amazingly enough, this plant seems to be coming back. I have no idea what it is.

I took these last night. I am one of the lucky ones that gets a hose, so I can water without too much trouble. Last years bed is by the brick stuff, which is my bedroom.

When the weather clears and I can fix it, the black thing with the artificial vines on it, gives me privacy from the next patio. I'll take a better photo of it when I am done.

I will probably make a bed here in this corner next year, but for now, the pots will do. As you can see, my swing won't fit on a regular balcony. (they would end where the white wall ends.)

I now have Bleeding Heart, campanula, my mystery plants and day lilies that should all come back next year. I put in yellow marigolds and amaranthus (love lies bleeding) and silver lace as well. And some donated bark chips.

Close up of the carnations (dianthus) in the blue stone planter.

Close up of the carnation that is open.

This is a close up of the hanging petunia.

Now as long as everything continues to grow, I should have a grand array of flowers. There are two vines, one is Canary Bird Vine the other is Creeping Charlie. The left hand blue stone pot has a citronella geranium in it. Violas are in the shallow clay pot and in the pot under the kitchen window, with more dianthus.

I should fill the pots with some lobellia but, I have blown the planting budget this year. Oh well! My suite faces East for those that are wondering.

Have a great day everyone!

The best laid plans?

My garden is still not planted! It is about 80% though, as long as the rain holds off, I should be able to get it finished today. I have been working at it in between downpours and showers and of course the lawn maintenance people were here on the only dry day!

I haven't been able to work on the overhead cover, I need to unroll it on the grass in order to cut it off of the roller. Did I mention it is an old outdoor roll up blind? I had originally thought to hang it from the edge of the balcony above me to cut back on the heat from the sun, but it won't work to do that, so will be perfect overhead.

Friday, I was able to take my cat to the vet for his shots and check up. $100.00 later, they will give me an estimate to take care of the abscess in his mouth. The vet thinks he has gingivitis and needs about 5 teeth pulled. They called Saturday afternoon....the minimum it will cost is $700.00, I didn't hear the top price, I was in shock. I will call them this afternoon and give them the fax # for the office here and tell them that it will be awhile before I can afford to have anything done.

Saturday after work, I cycled over to my friends to take a photo of her new bridge (I am helping her redesign her front yard) so I could play around with colours for it in Adobe. On the way home, trying to beat the rain, I was going to fast to make the 90 degree turn to stay on the paved bike trail, so went across the grass (like everyone else). No problem, until I tried to get back on the paved path! (the bike path makes another corner, so I was making the bottom of the triangle) My front wheel hit the pavement at the wrong angle and instead of bumping up onto the pavement, slid along beside it. Of course, my forward motion didn't change direction with the bike so I wound upon the pavement. This time, I was not face down like I am when I trip over speed bumps though. No, I landed on my side. On my arthritic knee and my lymphatic arm. Of course on the arm, I have an appointment to get a new sleeve on the 18th and my physiotherapist will be angry with me because it will be still swollen! She will make me wear the mummy wrap out of spite. Then the weather will get hot. Yes, I would love some cheese, thanks.

This is what my knee looked like Saturday night, after I put the chain back on my bike and got home. You can see it is swollen and a bit of the swelling of my arm.

This is it 24 hours later.

This is just a few minutes ago, the swelling is somewhat better.

Sunday, my friends & I went shopping and I got the edging for my little garden and a new lock for my bike (the other is just too short for most bike racks). Then I worked in the afternoon, got some gardening done and managed to not hurt myself.

Today is laundry and trying to get the last plants in.

How was your weekend?

Take care all.

Gardening!

Well, I must say after the last few photo heavy posts, this will be a change. I got my friend to take me to the garden centre last night and will be spending the day planting. I have a couple of other things to do as well so may not get it all done tomorrow, but I certainly hope to.

I got a couple of perennials to put in the bed that I made last year. The management doesn't mind you doing that and I figure if I leave anytime soon, I will just take them to my friends place. Of course, I got the usual annuals as well. I forgot to get lobelia though, so I may have to look for some later, we will see how the pots look.

I didn't get a shade sail to put up, it requires attachment to structurally sound posts, which would entail digging a hole and setting the posts in concrete. THAT the management would frown at. My friend happened to have some old tent posts though from a screen room that bit the dust and I have a cloth that will do the trick, I just need to put some grommets in the corners and drape it over the swing I have.

I will put up before and after pictures once I am done and you can all ooh and ahh at how clever I am :p

Speaking of the need for the cover.....he has found a friend that wants to share an apartment with him and it has to be on the ground floor. I am just hoping that one comes available in the building farthest away...oh, wait, no that would be the office bldg, that won't do. I guess we would have to put him in the bad tenant bldg. We have one bldg out of the four that seems to attract bad tenants, don't know why, but, that is just the way it goes. Just as long as it is soon, and not this bldg, I don't care where he goes.

I hopefully will have a productive day today, I have so much that needs to be done, it is ridiculous!

Have a good day all.
