I had a visit (in person) from my cousin Leah (of The Goat's Lunch Pail) on Wednesday! She had to come into the city for a few things and needed a native (well sort of) guide. We went for lunch when she got here which was quite an experience, one I am sure she is blogging about, if not today, then soon.
We then went and did the bit of running around she had to do and she was kind enough to drive me over to do some errands that I had to do. Then we came back to my place and ate two wonderfully decadent desserts! Each! By the mighty horns of Thor's helmet! They were good!
While we were having our lunch, we had brought my camera and it's manual along and Leah was helping me out with learning the manual features. She is a photographer and journalist for those of you not familiar with her blog. We took a few silly photos and got the manual settings explained in small words of two syllables or less so that I could understand them and maybe remember them.
I went out later Wednesday night, after she headed home and tried to get some shots of the almost full moon. Even with a tripod, they were shaky so I need to practice some more. When I came back in though, I tried out a few shots of the cat, here are the best. I photoshopped colour in & out of a couple.
The purrfect pose and I don't know how that colour came to be, but I liked it.
Rub my tummy! It was a bit blurry and I couldn't get the colour balanced so removed it.
This is kind of neat. Except he moved before the shutter closed.
He is getting bored and tired of me taking his picture.
And has now given up all hope of getting to go to bed anytime soon.
We had a wonderful day, got some shopping done, ate far too many sweets and played with the camera. There is more, but I think I will wait a day or to to get the final results before I confess all.
Have a good day all.

Two desserts! Yes!
Yeah I think Mr. Kitty looks like he was ready for a break from the paparazzi. LOL
Reb, thanks for the shoutout, and thanks again for a great day.
I love the title of this post. Reminded me of The Day The Earth Stood Still
Good work on the long exposures. Night exposures take practice, but they're fun.
Oh, those desserts were good."By the mighty horns of Thor's helmet! They were good!" I love this and may steal it.
I am so jealous of your good time together!
*Note to self - travel more so you, too can have good time in big city!*
And love that phrase! Might be stealing that one, too!
Jay, oh yes. He was getting that disgusted look for sure.
Leah, thank you! For all your help and encouragement. Go ahead, use it as you will!
Sis, print out the note to self. It would have been nice to have you along. Use the expression as you will!
Whether I approve of two desserts depends on what KIND of desserts they were. ;) Mmmm, cake.
Sounds like you two had a wonderful day and intriguing . I can tell because you still have chocolate on your face. ;) (At least one of them HAD to be chocolate!). Fun shots too. Technicolour kitty!
Tink, one was cake...the other was cream puff drizzled with chocolate.
Actually Hilary, both had chocolate! Thanks, my poor cat is getting kind of sick of the camera though.
Awww his face, it's so cute!!! I love it. Desserts... MMMM I need chocolate.
:) Have a great weekend!
Sounds like a fulfilling day. I wish I had someone to teach me the ins and outs of using all those camera settings. My wife adores cats, and she melted over these pictures :)
You are lucky Sibu will pose for you at all. Cleopatra finds posing beneath her...or perhaps she is just impatient.
Two desserts? Two 'Ss' in the word dessert? Consequence? I don't think so.
AJ, thanks! I think he is sweet. Yes, two - we did space them out a bit.
David, it certainly was. It is nice to have someone who knows what they are doing give you a hand. I'm glad your wife enjoyed the cat pics.
Kcinnova, Sibu just has no one else to distract him. Um and I usually try to catch him when he is just laying there anyway.
Love to hear about two of my favorite bloggers getting together and eating desserts. It's too bad Bag Lady couldn't have rounded out the threesome---but then you might have had to share some of those desserts!
Sounds like a great day & love the cat photos!
Crabby, thanks. Yes it was a shame that Sis couldn't join us.
Oh GLORIOUS cat!
Hooray for lunch with decadent desserts and a dear friend and relative all rolled up into one great person.
So glad you guys had a good time together. df Bag lady--next time!!!
Terrie
Thanks Gary!
Terrie, oh you have that right. We had lots of fun and missed Sis.
