WWC - Earth & Seven

Once again it is Tuesday and time for the Weekly Word Challenge Hosted by the vacationing Tink of Pickled Beef.

This is the last of the numbers and elements theme and the last element of course is Earth and the number is Seven. Funny she should pick that, my grandmother had seven sons of which my dad was the youngest. (She did have one daughter, the oldest.) I thought I had a copy of the only picture that shows all seven of them, but alas, I can't find it. My mom had seven sister's, which made for 8 girls to their one brother.

Earth:

They are moving a lot of EARTH to put the LRT in my neighbourhood.

A small EARTH mover sitting idle.

You can see the EARTH hidden in this little copse - across the road from the construction.

A week later, almost all of the EARTH is moved back into place.

Seven:

SEVEN amber coloured marbles from a game.

SEVEN eggs on a plate.

SEVEN boards make the top of this rotting picnic table.

If you want to join in the fun, visit Tink at Pickled Beef and she will let you in on the details. Just a reminder that several of the WWC players have set up a group at Flickr and you can enjoy their contributions there. Of course, I took more pictures and you can see the rest of them on my Flickr site. (probably much later today, as it is having troubles loading)

Thanks for stopping by.

P.S. LRT - Light Rail Transit, downtown is subway, ground level elsewhere.

Love the texture of the picnic table. It has a lot of character.
All well executed as usual.

Great shots, Reb - love the marbles! You should have asked me - I have that photo of dad's family.

GR and Fortune Cookies - yes, LRT stands for light rail transit...they are expanding it all over the city.

Hilary, thanks, I was surprised at how those marbles turned out.

Leah, I was actually wandering looking for inspiration when I saw that and realised it had the perfect # of boards.

Gary, Cookies, sorry, I should have explained it is Transit...they have been promising to bring it out here for 10 years or so. It is subway through downtown and at ground level to the north and will be ground level to the south here.
Glad you liked the pics.

Sis, thanks, I have it on my 'puter somewhere I think, I just can't remember where, it isn't filed with the rest. If I can't find it, I will have you send it to me.

Those amber marbles have a really cool color to them.

I love watching people on those big machines play in the dirt.

Great job on the words!

As I was wracking my brain for ideas, I knew someone must have had an easy time with earth. That would've been you! I like all those shots. And the marbles and eggs are fun too.

Great shots again, Reb! I love the marbles & the picnic table. Well, and I have a thing for dozers & cranes & steamrollers--I've wanted to drive them since I was a kid. It'll be interesting to see the LRT as it develops.

Eight girls & seven boys--wowza! It fascinates me how large families used to be...my paternal grandparents had 6 & my maternal had 10!

Jay, thanks - I've the blue marbles on my Flickr site. They are interesting to watch aren't they?

Karen, just good timing is all. I had trouble thinking of something for seven - those were all last minute.

Alice, with the blue ones, you would play Tri-Tac-Toe! Or leave them in the box like I do ;)

OH, your marbles and eggs are lovely - so simple and so elegant! And, I love the earth moving back and forth!

oooh, marbles! I love the colors. And the picnic table? I think it just gave me splinters, it is so vivid. And the eggs? Smooth.
You rocked it this week, Reb!

Reb said...

Chatty, thanks, here I was getting desperate when I shot the eggs!

Kcinnova, thanks, that table really is scary isn't it?

You're lucky, with gas prices going up (maybe even in oil rich Alberta?) to have good public transit. We live in a rural county with a tiny little city, bu have excellent buses everywhere, very unusual in the US and esp. the country.

Gary, it sounds like you are better off than we are, our transit is bad! It takes me a minimum of 20 minutes & two buses to get to my Dr. by bus, I can walk it in the same length of time, except I can't breathe in the winter to walk. Five minutes by car.

Sitting right in the gas/oil fields, we are paying 1.23/L which is about 5.57/gal.
