October, A Pink Photo Finish Friday

October means Breast Cancer awareness month. I have turned my blog as pink as it's going to get and put up another badge as a reminder of this important cause. Men need to check their ta-tas too, so everyone help out your significant other with a simple check.

If found early breast cancer can be beaten. I can't site statistics, because I'm lazy not that kind of girl.  If you find yourself with a diagnosis of cancer there are plenty of sites out there to help you understand what is going on, Breast Cancer.org is one that is helpful. There are also plenty of emotional support sites such as CommuniCancer, which provides support for any type of cancer.

You can also visit the Booby Wall for some very moving photos and dedications. I think I might just put this up this year.

Fortunately with a bra, it is not that obvious! (That is one of two things I own in pink, not my favourite colour.)

On that note I leave you with a partial new verse for this:

...one pointed North and the other pointed South.....

(We learned slightly different words than the link above)

Have a good long weekend all ;) Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canucks! Now, try and get that out of your head!

PFF is the brainchild of my cousin Leah over at The Goat's Lunch Pail

Hilary of The Smitten Image has honoured this post as The Post of the Week, which makes me proud/embarrassed ;) and lets me display this:

Thank you so much Hilary.

Breast Cancer Awarness Month

October, 2009. A mere three years ago, I was still getting chemo for breast cancer. That doesn't seem like a long time, in fact it is still quite fresh in my memory.

I seldom get too serious on this blog - in fact lately I seldom blog. However this is an important thing to do. Remind every woman & man out there that you have to check your tatas, regularly.

Men, don't be embarrassed to say to your doctor: "I think I found a lump" it could save your life.

Women, go for a mammogram yearly. Yes, it is nerve racking and a bit uncomfortable, but it may save your life. The beginnings of a cancerous growth can be as small as a grain of rice, you can't feel that, mammograms can see it though.

I am not going to try to flood you with statistics and so on, you all have heard or read them at least once. If you want more information on breast cancer, here are some websites:

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

National Cancer Institute

Breast Cancer Organization

Alberta Cancer Foundation

The Booby Wall

Have a good day all.....and go PINK for October!

I'm still here

It has been a little busy the last few days. I haven't gotten anything done on the sewing project, but, just yesterday, I figured out how I can alter the pattern for now to accommodate my two very different sized girls. I will be drawing out a new pattern tonight and hopefully will have time to sew it over the weekend. I think once I have shed a few pounds, that I will be able to go back to the original project and adjust it to work around the hole it has. So, good news there!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More, even better news!
My creepy upstairs neighbour has moved to a different building! *happy dance* (same complex still) I didn't realize how much better I would feel and I haven't even seen much of him since the last incident I blogged about. I will be able to enjoy going outside again next summer!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tomorrow is All Hallows Eve, ghosts and goblins will be trick or treating. Adults will be giving out candy to the little beggars that come to their doors. Do you make them sing for their treats? and count the number of kids? If the kids are taller than you do you still give them candy? what if they aren't in any sort of costume? Do you dress up to scare the kids?

All this stress for one night a year!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not only is it Halloween, it is the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I would like to thank each and everyone who showed support or donated time or money to the cause. A few posts this month have brought tears to my eyes and a few have made me realize just how lucky I am. Thank you all!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Wow!
Wow, is really all I can say. Thank you all for your concern about my leg. I did call the Dr.'s office this afternoon and the nurse said to leave it as he hadn't told me to wrap it when I was there. My plan is to call again tomorrow to see if the x-rays are back...if I pester them enough, they may call to find out where they are. :)
Hebba over at Jeepgirl17, gave me a sweet award, she said I make her smile. In the spirit of awards, I pass this along to Kcinnova, Knight and Dianne. These women remind me to be happy, be sassy and be strong.
