Well, I finally did it!

I went and purchased a new camera! I have been playing with it since I got home last night and so far, I am very happy with it. It is an Olympus SP-550UZ, it has 7.1 Mp and 18 X Optical Zoom. Now, it is going to take me some time to figure out all that it can do, but here are a few of my first photos with it.

No flash, in my living room, with some zoom, last night.

Around noon, I stepped out onto my patio and zoomed all the way, then had to back off. I think it is about 20 feet to the tree.

Maximum zoom, click and see the craters! The little ones!

About 20.30 hrs looking West (duh) down my front road.

I had to climb to the third floor landing to get this shot, but I like how it turned out.

I tried to get another shot of the moon later, but it must have been possessed, all I got were these ghosts!

Note to self - buy a tripod.

Well, not bad for the first few shots! I hope to have a better grasp on it by Tuesday for the WWC. I know that it will take a lot longer than that to figure out the manual settings and all the other things it can do, but, I will be taking fabulous photos before you know it!

Good night all.

Congratulations on the new camera. Good pics and I love the moon shot.
Both of them actually. Keep that ghosty one around for Halloween.
Have fun.

Yay you! I'm glad you got yourself a good camera. I can't wait to see what you do with it over time. This is exciting! :)

Yippee, you got a snazzy one! The moon shot is great, so clear...and your kitty must've appreciated the zoom/no flash :)

I've been toying with mine since Xmas & still haven't figured out all the doodads, too busy taking pics LOL Have fun playing!

BG, I thought you might like the bunny shot!, You might be sick of them by the time I am proficient though ;)

Sis, thanks. I liked that one too.

Leah, the ghostly moon was the best of three shots and I almost didn't take it!

Hilary, thanks, I can't wait to see either!

Jo, after all the comparing and reading reviews, I lucked into this on sale for less than one with 8Mp & only 10X zoom! That first moon shot was just me trying to see what this camera would do. I'm impressed, I didn't think I would get anything nearly that good!

I liked all the shots... the 'ghost' shot was very artistic :)

Thanks Merry, I like how that one came out too.

What fun!

Actually, what am I saying? Fun for people like you with the patience to figure out how to use the dang things.

We have a relatively new camera with all kinds of settings but I only use the one that figures everything out for you because I can't remember what the other settings do.

So anything in low light, or with backlight, or that moves slightly or whatever comes out like crap.

I'll leave the picture taking to you smart folks!

Thanks Sis.

Crabby, it is fun. All you need is time to play with the settings. I am sure you are smart enough to figure one out too.

Woo Hoo!!! Congrats on the new hardware. Just keep shooting you'll get the hang of what works on it in no time.

Nice shootin' already.

I stopped by for the WWC, but this post caught my eye too.
Both moon shots are great, and the bunny's cute too. I am in the market for a new camera. I will have to check back to see how you like this one. Now I'm off to your link to read more about it.
