Photo Finish Friday: Art Gallery of Alberta

Please click to enlarge
This is the Art Gallery of Alberta, taken back in August. The first time I have been near the gallery when there hasn't been a festival or something blocking the view of it. So many people hated the design when it was proposed and the price tag that went along with it. I think they did a fabulous job and it was money well spent.

Have a good weekend all.

PFF is the brain child of my cousin Leah, at The Goat's Lunch Pail.

I like it. It screams unique which an art gallery should.

Reb, I'm not sure if I like it, but it is interesting and something that draws the attention. Those are good things.
Good pic of it.

Excellent shot, sis! I think it looks cool. An art gallery should be in an interesting building, in my opinion.

Thanks David. You are right, the old gallery was just an old building from the '60's with no character.

Leah, it is not to everyone's taste, just like art. Thanks.

Thanks Sis. I agree and it is much better than the old.

The building is art, unique and meaningful. Thanks.

My first thought was "What fun!" It's also beautiful, as well as playful, but I want to see the exhibition space before I give it an unreserved thumbs up.

I can see why some like it and some do not. If you're more inclined to like modern art, its whimsy probably appeals. If you're more into classic art, not so much. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you were able to see it without the crowds.

While I'm not a modern art fan, I LOVE this building! It makes me want to go inside and see what the gallery has to offer to us all.

Thanks Messymimi, I think so too.

Mary Anne, one day I will go inside and see what it looks like.

Hilary, yes and if you're from the backwoods of Alberta... at least that's what the critics of the critics were saying :) Because of course there is no culture west of Toronto you know - lol

Karen, I am not either for the most part, but like you I really like this bldg. One day I will see the inside.

I love the curves and swirls

Great picture, and now I want to go see the art inside! I don't seem to be having much luck crawling through my PC monitor though, so perhaps I'll have to use that as an inspiration to visit some local museums and galleries. Thanks for that!

The design is odd - but interesting. I'd like to see it from the inside.

Dianne, it is rather cool.

Crabby, I'm glad it inspired you to visit a gallery ;)

Frank, I want to see the inside too one day ;)
