Whine

I am tired and grumpy. But it might be the last day I have headaches for no apparent reason. The plumbers are here to change out the manifold (?) on the boiler in our building and replace some pipes. We have been leaking carbon dioxide for awhile now, so that could be part of the headache problem.

In fact, I think they have to change out the entire boiler/heater, but I don't have to pay for it so don't really care. It does mean there is no water in the building today. Or maybe I'm confused and they changed the boiler on Wednesday and are just doing the pipes today.

Either way, the inspector that came through last year should have noticed that it was about to go. On the other hand at least it is now and not January or February when it is certain to be much colder. It is a balmy -3c (26f) with very little wind so it should remain fairly warm in the suites.

Of course, the buildings are old enough that to shut off the main from the city for one building, they have to shut off all four of the buildings. That means even though I am working, I can't slip into an empty suite in the other building and use the toilet. Good thing I know enough to fill the tub.

Well, this is disjointed and weird, so I think I will sign off and see if there is something work related to do.

Have a good weekend all.

I think that would explain a whole lot of headaches!
We had a wee gas leak in a house years ago. Amazing how much better we felt after it was fixed!! (It took about a week for them to figure out where it was, even though I TOLD the fire department it wasn't the stove. It was the natural gas furnace, leaking in the outdoor furnace closet and then pumping some of that air through the house vents.)

I'm glad the mystery has been solved. Too bad all the buildings have to be shut off, but at least the problem will be fixed.
I'm also glad you are a thinker and know what to do. So many are clueless.

Kcinnova, the sad thing is I would swear that I was smelling it last spring too. At least it is getting fixed and thankfully yours was too.

Leah, yes, I am sure it was most of the problem and I hope to feel much better in the next day or two. As for being a thinker...I remember filling the tub and several buckets at home a few times when I was a kid. Not to mention the last building I was in they shut the water off so frequently I took to keeping a 4 litre jug full all the time. Of course, I think that water is probably more than distilled by now, I should change it tomorrow ;)

Oh Reb, I am so happy that they found the CD leak and are correcting it before tragedy struck.

Wave good bye to the headaches!

Terrie, I am glad they caught it before anything serious occurred too. I just hope that is the only thing that was causing my headaches.

It's good that this dangerous situation is being resolved. I'm sorry that it took so long.

Reb said...

Messymimi, yes, I am too.

Hope they have it all fixed up for you now!
and that it resolves your headache! You will let us know, won't you?

Reb said...

Sis, of course I will let you know. They have the pipe fixed, but I think they still need to change the furnace itself, but have pulled off the bad manifold.

Thank you Anonymous.

You need to keep a window cracked a wee bit to let in fresh air. I currently live over a garage and my living room window is always open a crack, because fumes do have a way of making their way up through cracks and whatnot.

It's good though that the boiler is being taken care of, and hopefully that will be the last of your headaches. Take care, Reb.

Barbara, none of the windows fit very well, so I get plenty of fresh air :) That is probably why no one has died yet. I hope it is the end too.

Ahhh I feel the same way sometimes.

Give yaseff a break.

We're getting into the winter season and have to battle the blahs.

Ack.. I hope that's resolved very soon and that your headaches are a thing of the past.

It probably was the carbon monoxide; I know that it does it to me in even the smallest doses. I hope you feel better soon!

Reb said...

AJ, I will.

Hilary, I am pretty sure it was.

Scott, I know, it is dangerous stuff.

Reb, I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this!

Thank you Janet I am.

Thank goodness the leaking gas will be taken care of. I bet your headaches totally disappear.

Reb said...

Thanks Barrie. Unfortunately they won't ever totally disappear, they will just go back to being infrequent.
