Fireworks!

I need a sturdier tripod and to see if I can get a remote trigger for this camera.

Oh, well....this shot shows just how light it still is at 23.15 hrs. It also shows how far away the fireworks are ;) If you enlarge, you can just make them out sort of in the centre of the treeline.

This year we were supposed to have a monster fireworks show.

This might have been one of them, or just a very interesting effect by my camera.

Of course, I may have missed it altogether, or they cancelled it at the last minute. I know they started earlier than they stated.

I was shooting some on automatic with the fireworks setting and tried some on the bulb setting, I think so far the auto setting is best.

I'll try again at New Year's provided it isn't 40 below or some such stupid temperature.

Have a good day all.

Good job on the fireworks photos, Cousin. They're not so easy to shoot. I really like the thick-looking one that you suggest might be due to your camera. The bottom one is my fave, though, as enlarged it looks like creepy fingers from the sky. Well done!

Good job, Sis!

Far better than I ever could have done....

Thanks for sharing, because we didn't get to see any this year.

Thanks Leah! At least this year I wasn't swatting mosquitoes while I was trying to take photos ;) The thick one is my fav too.

Dianne, thank you. I have so many just like you mention.

Sis, thanks. Drought tends to lead to bans - our fire department hosed down the areas that they licensed this year.

I'm impressed. I don't think I could get a decent shot of the fireworks if my life depended on it.

Thanks Barrie. Lots of discards though.

I agree with Leah on the "creepy fingers" photo at the bottom.

Reb, you did very well on taking the photos.

I'd almost forgotten how light it stays in the evening in the summer. Here it's dark by 8:45pm.

Thanks Ben, they do a bit at that.

Barbara, that is the one thing I don't think I could ever give up are my late summer nights, I see a difference between here and Grande Prairie where I grew up.

They look fine to me.. especially since I got some very similar to yours. ;) I need me a tripod. I hope you had a great Canada Day, eh? :)

Reb said...

Thanks Hilary. That was with a tri-pod though.

Love the abstract fireworks shot with the squared off edges... makes for a really intriguing image!

You took really good photos of fireworks. The sky is really still so bright even it is already 2300 hrs.

Those are nice shots despite the need for a better tripod and remote trigger. Did you use the program mode "night" at all? You shoot a Cannon Rebel right?

Reb,

You are a grand photographer.

Crabby thanks. That one is my favourite.

Superman, thanks. Nice of you to drop by.

Thanks G-man. I have an Olympus SP-550uz, I used the "fireworks" setting for most, I tried a few in manual mode, but that didn't really work well at all ;)

Terrie, thank you. I am trying ;)

You got some great shots. I used the fireworks setting, too, but it is so hard to hold my hand still for that long!

Kcinnova, I know! It seems to take forever ;)

I know I'm later catching up on these, but nice shots, Reb! I always enjoy the strange night and light artifacts in pictures like these. As if the colorful explosions weren't magical enough for me.

Thanks Clare, I don't mind late ;)
