Photo Finish Friday: Farewell

Sibu with Kai and brother Rikk.

I found you at a time in my life when I needed you the most. You were the only Himi in with two Siamese brothers and so much cuter than either of them. They were ignoring you and me, but you came right up to the window to see me. I wasn't sure if my allergies would let me have you so I had to snuggle you right up to my face, staring a lifelong habit in you, then I made arrangements with the staff to hold you for an hour. When I got back some smelly woman was cuddling you and when you saw me you would have jumped right into my arms if she hadn't been holding you so tightly. We had to give you a bath to get rid of her perfume from your coat, it was that strong.

It was a match made in heaven and we have been through so much together Sibu, I am sorry it was for such a short time. Everyone tells me that 14 years is old for a cat, but I still wish it could have been longer.  I'm still convinced that you were trying to give me CPR the morning I didn't want to wake up when you wanted me to.

You brought me great joy and I will miss you.

The top Polaroid is one of the first photos of Sibu, and the bottom photo is one of the last photos.

With no Sibu, I think I will stop using this blog and try to put my photo blog to more use, so this will be the last post on this blog.

Thank you all for reading about my life here. I have enjoyed making so many friends here and hope to continue our friendship through the other blog (icon on the top right - RLU Photos) or on Facebook (Reb Utas).

Have a good weekend all.

PFF is the brainchild of my brilliant cousin Leah over at The Goat's Lunch Pail.

Reb, beautiful tribute. I am sorry for your loss. Pets know things. Sibu clearly had your wavelength.

Sorry to see this blog go, but I am looking forward to seeing more of your pictures.

Reb, this post has made me cry all over again...
Not only is this a beautiful tribute to Sibu -- a cat who was a soulmate if ever there is such a thing as a soulmate cat -- but also a tribute to the power of blogging friendships. When you hurt, I hurt. The death of your beloved Sibu brings tears flowing down my cheeks.

Karen, thank you! Soulmate cat, I like that, I think it describes our relationship purrfectly.

Oh dear, I am SO sorry to hear this. Beautiful post and I had to blink back tears. We lost our beloved Maile a couple of summers ago and I feel for you right now as there is such grief to get through and it just takes a while--sending hugs.

Glad that even with this blog retiring that you'll still be posting on your photo blog!

Thanks Crabby (I knew it was you). I am sorry to hear about Maile, it is tough to lose the little ones in our lives.

Reb, very sorry to hear about Sibu. Pets bring joy to each owner's heart for the time they are with them. A fine tribute.

Also, I'm sorry to see this blog end, but perhaps your new venture will do quite well for your love of photos.

Reb said...

Thanks Barbara. I haven't really had much to say over here for awhile, so I will let photos do the talking for me for the time being.

Oh, Reb. I'm so very sorry. Clearly Sibu and you knew each other before you even met. I'm glad you had a beautiful 14 years together but I ache for you. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a wonderful cat. Hugs to you.

Reb said...

Thanks Hilary, I am sure you are right.

Oh Reb, this brought tears to my eyes. I'm sorry for how much you miss Sibu, but so glad the two of you found each other.

Reb said...

Thanks Jo. He was a great cat and one day, I will find another that tugs my heart strings in just the right way.
