Photo Finish Friday: Spin

Please click to enlarge

This is a wind spinner that a friend gave me for Christmas one year. I keep hoping that I will get a photo of it with the sun shinning on it, but, this will have to do for now ;)

Have a good weekend all.

I would hang dozens of these if my husband let me. He's the only thing standing between me and tacky...
NOT saying you & your spinner are tacky. Nope, definitely not! It's beautiful. But 20 of them might be overkill... and he keeps me from going there. Still... wouldn't it be fabulous? ;)

It's fascinating. I'm trying to figure out the construction. Not that I'm going to make one or anything.

Karen, I once lived down the street from a house with 33 wind chimes on its front porch. (Very glad I did not live next door!) It was so far beyond overkill there is no word for it. Definitely not tacky. Alien invasion, maybe. If we walked past when the wind was strong, we had to suspend conversation for several houses around before we could hear ourselves again. The chimes made from used exhaust pipes and mufflers were particularly...basso. The one made of old chrome bumpers was quieter.

Thank you Leah.

Karen, I can't afford any more, otherwise I might put up another one or two. I have a beautiful set of chimes that I won't put up because they are quite loud and that is not nice in an apartment. (especially with some of the winds we get)

Mary Anne, I think they have to put the chain of glass in before they twist and close up at least one end of the copper. As for the chimes made of mufflers and bumpers...why didn't the neighbours make the town/city council fine them and make them take them down? No noise by-laws there?

Very pretty indeed, and i don't blame you for not hanging loud wind chimes. Such consideration makes for good neighbors.

Reb, now I think I will make some, only tiny ones to wear on my ears!

The neighborhood with the wind chimes (wind clangers, maybe?) was extremely student/hippy/living-under-the-radar. The noise from the wind was as nothing to the noise from the five motorcycles parked on that porch, or the bands that practiced in houses nearby.

Thanks Messymimi. I do miss them though, they have a beautiful mellow tone.

Mary Anne, that would be lovely. There is a kind of washer on both ends that the chain goes through that the copper sits against. Oh, neighbourhoods like that - gottcha!

That is very pretty, sis.

Mary Anne - thanks for the chuckle! As I read your comment, I had visions of the stereotypical Appalachian neighbourhood, ala Jeff Foxworthy.... (If you mow your lawn and find a car.... you might be a redneck.) If you make windchimes out of car parts, you might be a redneck.

Thanks sis. LOL

Hilary, it was, thanks.

Dianne, thanks, I was very pleased with the shot, I just wish I could get one with the sun shining on the glass balls :)
