Photo Finish Friday: My walking stick

I saw the specialist on Wednesday about my hip and he will be replacing it. The waiting list is about 6 months long and the Dr. told me to use a cane in the meantime. Here is my new cane, please click to enlarge.

Funny that I am not a big fan of red, but they didn't have anything else that was interesting. A variety of solid colours and a mottled green or a black and silver swirly pattern. Oh, or pastel bubbles - none of which were me. So, unless I can find a purple one and exchange them, this will do the trick.  As long as I don't trip over it and break my neck, I think we will get along just fine ;)

And because I like the song (and the video is cute) have a listen here:

Have a good weekend all.

That's too bad you'll need surgery, Reb but I keep hearing how so many are glad they did it. My sister is in desperate need for a hip replacement but she keeps putting it off.

I like the cane and got a kick out of the video.

I'm sorry to hear you need another surgery, Reb. But (and I don't mean to make light of the situation) canes are cool as hell and you have a sharp-looking one there. Honest to Betsy, I told my wife just yesterday that I want to buy a majestic looking wooden cane.

Love the video and agree with you about a purple one being the best option.

Sorry you will need surgery for your hip, it's no fun to have, but it's supposed to be worth it.

My first thought was this

though a version with different lyrics.

Sorry you have to have a cane, but yours is pretty cool.

Thanks Hilary, I just decided to get it over and done, I'm tired of the pain.

David, thanks. I have always thought canes were pretty cool looking. You need to check out second hand stores for wooden ones I think.

Messymimi, thanks, I am sure it will be.

Leah, thanks. It is pretty cool ;)

That is a gorgeous cane. (I am partial to red, myself.) I'm sorry you need it, though. Everyone I know who has had a hip replacement (I can't count them up, because I can't remember who's a hip and who's a knee, except the one who's both) says it is so much more comfortable.

Thanks Mary Anne. I am sure it will help a lot.

Sorry to hear that you're heading towards surgery but several of my relatives have had hip replacements and they're all skipping round like two year olds now (well - almost).

That is a fine looking cane. Never see anything that exotic looking out here. Perhaps I should start a cane importing business!

Thanks Dawn. I am sure I will feel much better after. They just started showing up in the last few years, maybe you should ;)

Sorry about the bad news…

But, I love that cane! I’ve been wanting to rock a top hat and cane for some time now. Just make sure that you bring a little swagger with your limp.

Thanks Scott. I'll try the swagger, see how it does ;)

Thanks Dianne. I would have gone with bronze if they hadn't had this one.

I think your cane is beautiful! My mom has a wooden one (not as pretty) that she used after her hip surgery. She felt SO Much Better with her new hip! And the recovery is much easier than with knee replacement, even if it is frustrating to be recovering and not just simply recovered.

Thanks Karen, I can't wait to feel better.
