I do so go out in winter...

Thinking back to my summer bounty of outdoor photos and videos, it would appear that I don't get out in the winter. I do, but, it is a pain in the ass when it is cold. I thought a little video for those in the south would clear things up.

Warning: this video contains language which may be offensive to some viewers.

I have been walking with an upstairs friend this last week, because she's crazy and I need the exercise. I was going to film this when we were both out last night, but it was so cold we didn't go. I damn near froze walking from the office - a mere 100 yds (give or take) from the wind chill and we do about 2 km (yes, I grew up using imperial then they brought in metric). By the time I went out and filmed this the temperature had risen and the wind had died, it was almost pleasant - I should have done the whole walk.

It is supposed to warm up even more over the next few days which will be nice. I can go out and restock my cabinets with food.

Sorry, the sound sucks - and it is not a very good video.

Have a good weekend all!

Gull darn it, anyway!

Well, I had quite the day Monday! Lots of seagull encounters. The first was when I was out getting pictures for the WWC. I stopped to photograph this lovely sky...

And saw this woman chasing after a gull with a piece of burlap.

It seemed to have a couple of injuries and with the help finally of her spouse, they managed to capture the poor thing.

I think this might have been the mate of the injured bird - he was certainly keeping an eye on things. As they were leaving (on a Vespa type bike) to take the bird to get it some help, it seemed to be following them from the sky.

This little video shows my second encounter quite well. I had to do a bit of editing to make it watchable, then I had to re-do sound, so I gave you my best "Audubon Narrators Voice" ;)

I am tempted to re-edit & post it to youtube along with the stills I got of their faces (and a different dialogue). There is a reason it is called the fight or flight response! They just would not leave the poor birds alone! Of course, it would then start a trend for youngsters everywhere to chase seagulls and other birds, so there is no point.

I am also tempted to plaster their photos all over the neighbourhood, with "Shame on You" in red across the bottom. If they are our tenants (which I think they may be) I will slip a photo and explanation under the door for momma to take care of the matter!

Yes, I can be that kind of a bitch.

Am I over-reacting? I don't think so, walking through is one thing, deliberately chasing them over and over is cruel.

Have a good day all.

Well, Lord Thundering!

Well, we had a little thunderstorm this evening and having just figured out how to record sound with video on my camera, I thought I would take this opportunity to share! I am so excited! Of course, then I got frustrated trying to get it to load to blogger, but I think it is working.

So, after the short lived storm...lots of noise, not much rain, there were some very nice clouds that I went and took stills of.

Now that it is warmer, of course, I can't go outside without letting Sibu out. He wants back in two seconds later, especially if there is another tenant around. But, he likes to chew his grass...this looks like he is saying something like "Take this off! It's stuck!" Click to enlarge.

So we went for a walk and I videoed ? some more, but I am trying some editing which I have never done before, so I won't get it up until tomorrow at the earliest.

If anyone has any ideas how to get a video (it was an old home movie on VHS) from DVD onto my computer so I can edit it, I would really love to hear from you.

That's it for today, I hope the video works.

Have a good day all.
